USDT TRC20 fee
USDT TRC20 fee:
why 6.5 TRX, and how to pay 2.
Updated October 19, 2026 · network fees from TRON chain parameters
A USDT TRC20 transfer has no fixed fee. It uses about 65 000 energy, or 130 000 if the recipient has never held USDT, plus about 345 bandwidth. Without energy, the TRON network burns TRX instead: 6.5 TRX, or 13 TRX for a new holder, at the current 100 sun per energy. Renting the energy from Tronergy costs 2 TRX per 65 000 energy.
What a transfer
costs.
Per USDT transfer
| Transfer | Energy | Burn TRX (no energy) | Rent from Tronergy |
|---|---|---|---|
| To an address that already holds USDT | 65 000 | 6.5 TRX | 2 TRX |
| To an address that has never held USDT | 130 000 | 13 TRX | 4 TRX |
Bandwidth: a transfer also needs about 345 bandwidth. Each account gets 600 free bandwidth a day; beyond that the network burns 0.345 TRX. Tronergy adds it for 0.345 TRX, only when your wallet is short.

Burn · rent · stake
Energy only, at 100 sun per energy. Bandwidth and address activation are extra in all cases. Staking: 1 TRX gives about 9.60 energy a day, transfers spread evenly over 30 days; staked TRX stays locked, and unstaking takes 14 days.
Why USDT
costs energy.
How TRON fees work
- 01
Energy pays for the smart contract
USDT on TRON is a TRC-20 smart contract. Every transfer runs that contract, and contract execution is paid in energy. A typical transfer uses about 65 000 energy.
- 02
New holders cost double
If the recipient has never held USDT, the contract writes a new balance record, which uses about 130 000 energy. That is why some transfers cost twice as much.
- 03
No energy means burned TRX
If your wallet has no energy, the network burns TRX to cover it, at 100 sun (0.0001 TRX) per energy. That is 6.5 TRX for a normal transfer and 13 TRX for a new holder.
- 04
Bandwidth is the second resource
A transfer also takes about 345 bytes of bandwidth. Each account gets 600 free bytes a day, so it is often covered; if not, the network burns 0.345 TRX.
Three ways
to pay.
Compared
| Way | Cost per transfer | Good for | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Burn TRX | 6.5–13 TRX | A one-off transfer | The most expensive option |
| Stake TRX for energy | No fee, but capital is locked | Large, steady volume | You need a large stake, and unstaking takes 14 days |
| Rent energy (Tronergy) | From 2 TRX | Any volume, paid per transfer | You pay a small fee per transfer |

FAQ
How much is the USDT TRC20 transfer fee?
With no energy in your wallet, the network burns about 6.5 TRX per transfer, or 13 TRX if the recipient has never held USDT. With rented energy from Tronergy, you pay 2 TRX per 65 000 energy and burn nothing.
Why did my USDT transfer cost 13 TRX?
The recipient had never held USDT, so the transfer needed about 130 000 energy instead of 65 000. With no energy in your wallet, the network burned TRX for all of it.
Can I send USDT TRC20 without TRX?
You need some TRX or energy, because the network charges in energy and bandwidth. With Tronergy, energy and bandwidth are delivered to your wallet for the transfer, so you don’t burn TRX on the network fee.
Is the fee the same on every wallet and exchange?
The network cost is the same everywhere. Exchanges set their own withdrawal fees, which can be higher than the network cost.
What if I find energy cheaper?
Tronergy has a lowest price guarantee: send us a qualifying offer and we beat it by 0.05 TRX.
